| Name: |
Mac |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
6 months |
| Sex: |
Male |
| Description: |
Mac was turned in to a Tennessee shelter because he was too rough & energetic for his family and was too rough with their Yorkie. He is about 6 months old and a firecracker. Mac LOVES playing with his foster sister, Lucy (4yr old weim). If untended, he does constantly like to provoke Lucy into play wrestling — so he would probably be best in a home with another med-large breed dog. He lives for the moments when he gets to snuggle with his foster mommy or daddy — or Lucy. Mac crates very well & knows “sit”, "Down”, “Come”, and “Stay”. Mac would like to be the boss & an unsure or inconsistent owner would have a problems with him.
He knows the “outside” command well (which means go outside to potty). He is also used to sitting and waiting for the door to be opened, . . and for the human to step out and then release him to go.
He is good with older children. However, being the large pup that he is, he does not yet understand the physics behind jumping on people when he is allowed on the couch, . .or bumping into people that have something he wants. :) We’re working on it. So...again,the attentiveness of the handler will dictate his success with children or other small animals.
Mac will retrieve, but is easily bored by it. When Lucy is around he would rather play with her. In short, Mac is a very capable, intelligent (even by weim standards), and strong willed pup who needs an owner with those same qualities!

| Name: |
Jasper (formerly Jarrot) |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
12 weeks |
| Sex: |
Male |
| Description: |
Update from Forever Family 4/07: Jasper (formerly known as Jarrot) came to us at three months of age. He is all personality…and all ears! He settled into our home and family really well. He basically, eats, sleeps, plays, and loves! He has not had any accidents in the house. Friday night, he woke up twice...and last night he did not wake up at all and slept through the whole night....we have been sleeping with him all weekend so I think he is feeling more comfortable. He has met most of our friends...and he is quite the popular little guy on the block! He is eating well and has a huge appetite. He has learned to "sit" before we put the leash on to go out on walks and before he eats. He is really smart and just so loving. I think he is a mama*s boy...he always likes to curl up in my lap and take a nap! Our vet says he is in wonderful shape and growing very quickly. He is completely potty-trained and crate-trained...although he sleeps with us at night...we gave in! He is really connecting with us and follows us everywhere. Jasper is now a healthy, fully vaccinated, growing 60 pound baby. He has got all (but 2) adult teeth and is still ALL ears! We will be scheduling his neutering soon. He is so friendly--loves all dogs, all cats, and all kids. It is amazing what good socializing can do! He loves the water, including swimming in lakes and playing in the bathtub! What a joy he is!*****Jarrot came to us from a Louisiana shelter where he was dumped by the backyard breeder who was not able to sell him before Christmas. Jarrot was born on Sept 28th, 2006. He seems to be a very sweet, smart little boy. He figured out how to open the shower curtain & climbed right in....so sounds like he will be a water lover! Jarrot will be checked out by a vet & get started on HW prevention after Christmas. His adoption fee will be $300 PLUS $100 deposit which is refundable with proof of neuter. Jarrot is temporarily staying with one of our favorite trainers & needs a foster home. If you would be willing to be a foster home, please fill out the online adoption application & write FOSTER next to your name. |

| Name: |
Orius |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
3-4 years approx |
| Sex: |
Male |
| Description: |
Update from Forever Home 4/07: It has been a little over two months since we brought Orius into our home. After the initial shock a new dog was to our two female labs, things have been going very well. Everyone knew very little about his past, but Orius settled right in and surprised us all by being a very well behaved and calm weim. He is a handsome fellow and we love him very much. We have went through private training and are now in group sessions with Orius, he is improving every week. He is pretty much a lazy weim, some of his favorite past times are curling up on the couch with his sisters and getting in the middle of our bed. We would like to thank everyone at Weim Rescue for helping us complete our family!*****Update from foster home 1/30/07: Orius is doing well. We gave him a bath last night and he was so funny afterwards... He ran around playing tag with Kelly trying to catch her. We also took him to a dog park on Saturday and he did well. The hair on his back was ruffled for a bit when he first got there, but then started to chase after the dogs running after the tennis ball. (Mind you that he did not care about the ball.) We are working on crating. We have started to feed him in his crate and are trying to get him to sleep in it at night. He still howls a bit right when he is put in. We give him a kong and it seems to help, but once he realizes you are gone, he gets upset. I think he just has not had anyone care for him in so long that he thinks he is going to left again. He does not like to stay outside for very long and whines when we leave him outside while we eat dinner. Its just going to take some time for him to know that no-one is going to abandon him again. He does jump & has some food aggression, but we are working on both! *************
Orius came to us from a central Tennesse shelter. His coat looks a bit rough, so he may not have been allowed inside much, but he will get used to inside life soon enough! One thing that stuck me as very sad is the fact that he has no clue what a toy is. He stepped on a squeeky plush toy by accident & it scared him to death. Poor boy has probably never even seen a toy. Orius is a sweet, laid back guy currently weighing in at only 56 lbs. He needs to gain a few lbs, but will not be a large male. He has already learned to sit for a treat & takes it very gently from your hand. Orius is up to date on vaccinations, on HW prevention & will be neutered Dec 11th. He needs a foster home with a family who will teach him how to play & enjoy life! If you would like to foster Orius, please fill out the online adoption application & write FOSTER next to your name. We will post more info as we get to know this sweet boy.... |

| Name: |
Bailey, formerly Baby |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
1 year |
| Sex: |
Female |
| Description: |
UPDATE from Forever Home 6/07: Bailey is adjusting so well to Mobile and her new brother Blue... They really are a team now... Bailey is full of energy and loves to play! Blue did not quite know what to do with all that energy, Bailey has proved to be the best personal puppy trainer an ole man like Blue could ask for... He has lost 15 lbs.! (and believe me, he needed to!!!) Bailey has a very quirky personality and wild crazy eyes that are constantly on the lookout for bugs to chase! Since we have adopted Bailey she has really become her own little personality. She just got her toenails painted for the first time yesterday and she loves them... You ought to see her prance, miss priss!!! Barking at the slightest sound seems to be the only hurdle, but over time, I think she will get used to not being on the defensive all the time.. Our Little Protector!! Thanks so much WRS for giving us the opportunity to have such a wonderful little Weimy girl and we have been so appreciative of you and your volunteers. You guys are just fantastic!!! We will give another update after Beginner Training finishes to let you all know how well Bailey is behaving and acting like the sweet little princess we know she is!!! ~Michael, Michelle, Blue and Bailey~ (M&M and B&B)*****January 12, 2007- Baby, who is now named Bailey (she never really responded to Baby- and we felt sort of silly calling her that!) is doing great in her new foster home. She is a terrific dog with lots of energy. She has been doing some *in home training* and knows how to lie down and to stay. She has also learned to walk well on a leash and does not need a pinch collar. We have been using a harness when we take her out in public since she tends not to want to go through the doors and wants to head back to the car but once she is through the door...she is fine. She loves to go for walks, she runs well with my husband and loves to ride in the car! She keeps herself busy by chasing her shadow around in the sun most of the day.************************04-Dec-2006**Baby is doing very well. She had been having blood in her urine since September. Since November 22, Baby’s bloody urine has RESOLVED. It is possible that Baby Doll had stones so small that they just could not be seen on the ultrasound. All of her blood work came back normal. When she arrived at my home we placed her on a good nutritious diet of Flint River (Fish and Sweet Potatoes) and an extra supplement of Solid Gold Sea Weed. I believe that a good diet helped to move things along. Further, as a proud weim owner of 2 precious babies, I am a firm believer in a good nutritious diet. Baby has a wonderful personality and is extremely playful with my weimies. She has a lot of energy. She is also very skiddish at times. She likes to play (chew) with balls, kongs and my sons toys. She even likes to pounce on big plastic balls and it is a riot to watch her b/c she tries to put it in her mouth which is impossible b/c it is bigger than she is. She is a chewer but that is typical for her age. CHILDREN--Although she gets along well with my 14 month old son and loves to give him kisses, don’t be fooled she will run him over like a freight train and not look back! So I don’t recommend her in a home with toddlers. She is slowly learning to use the dog door and gets better everyday. She does all her bathroom biz outside but does like you to stay outside with her. CRATING–Baby is the best crating weim I have ever encountered in my 3 years of rescue. WALKING–She does pretty good on her walks in the evening. She does not like the prong collar very much but that is something she is getting used to. Undoubtedly, Baby will need a full round of OBEDIENCE training. She knows sit but stay...well that is a whole other story. So far based on what I have seen Baby would do best in a home with other dogs. She is CAT friendly (she previously lived in a home with 2 other cats). Not sure about SMALL dogs.
18-Nov-2006 HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY she celebrated her first birthday on Nov 14th. She was turned in to rescue because she had continued to have blood in her urine. The owner had taken her for some testing & could not afford to spend any additional money for more tests/surgery & was planning to have Baby euthanized.
WRS took her in & Baby was seen by a specialist last week. We are waiting for test results which will tell us what medical procedures she will need.
She is an alpha female who would benefit from a good round of obedience training. She is in a temporary foster home with 2 other weims & is doing well. She is crate trained & house trained, UTD on shots, spayed, & on HW prevention.
We will post more info as we learn more about Baby & her medical condition. Baby is in a temporary foster home until after the holidays so if you would like to foster or adopt please fill out an online application. |

| Name: |
Zeus |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
2 years old |
| Sex: |
Male |
| Description: |
UPDATE from Forever Home 5/07: Zeus is great. He is healthy, gained weight, runs like a torpedo and generally thinks that life is good. Thank you for letting us have him. He is a pleasure to be with.*****Zeus went on a *mini vacation* over the Thanksgiving Holiday with a volunteer and his female weim. If you are looking for a high energy always on the go weim...then Zeus is the boy for you! He has a high prey drive and was very proud of the bird that he jumped up and caught in flight! He seemed to learn quickly- knows sit and shake- he also seems to understand *no*. He crated well, by the end of the week he would crate with only a verbal command of *crate* and settled down nicely. Zeus will start his heartworm treatment this week- so we are looking for a foster home that would be willing to take him and get him through the treatment. Please consider fostering him or any of the other wonderful weims that are currently being boarded. November 13, 2006- Zeus is a striking young, blue male. A vet clinic in Eastern Alabama contacted WRS after he was left there by his owner. Zeus was a gift from a Grandfather to his Grandson- when the Grandson no longer wanted Zeus he gave the dog back to his Grandfather- an elderly man who could not take care of Zeus properly. He is now up to date on all of his shots and will be neutered this week. Zeus was not given a monthly heartworm prevention- and now is heartworm postive- he will start treatment after the Thanksgiving holiday. Please consider fostering Zeus (or any of the other weims in need of a foster home)- fostering a weim with heartworms takes a little extra effort and close monitoring- but as with any fostering experience....it is well worth your time! We could not be a successful rescue group without all of our wonderful foster families- they have one of the most important jobs!! |

| Name: |
Logan |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
1 1/2 years |
| Sex: |
Male |
| Description: |
Update from new family January 8, 2007: Logan is doing great now. We have gotten over the loose stool spell for a while i think. It turns out the problem was me over feeding this poor dog, haha. I was feeding him 8 cups a food a day. He acted hungry. We are now at 3.75 cups a day. That solved the problem i believe! Logan is 100% a counter surfer! He loves to get everything off the counters, including breakable items, haha. The 1st month with Logan, we lost some precious items that he thought was toys. Oh well, we still love him. Logan does not think that anyone in town is allowed out and about. Everytime we are walking or riding through town, he thinks he has to let out about 100 loud deep barks to tell everyone he is around and they need to go home. Logan was going to be a floor sleeper when we got him, but guess what, the 1st night we found out different. He sleeps in a ball right between my wife and I. He says no romance when it is bedtime, haha. I took Logan to lake 2 days ago and he was scared to death of water, but thought an ant bed would be over enjoyable, so he pawed at it and found out that the water was much better than the ants. He had ants all over him and he went for the water then in much burning. I went in with him to get ants from out between his toes and out of his fur. I worried he may be sick from it, but he did not even swell. Thanks Goodness! Logan is definitely a light in our life after losing our 4 year old weim in August of 2006. He is great!
Oct 30,2006 update: Logan and his foster sister Allie get along pretty well but he definitely LOVES to snuggle, sleep in the bed, stay close to you and I think he would love being an only dog—especially if they have access to a dog park or play dates with other dogs. He does NOT do well in a crate and pretty much demands to sleep in the bed with you.
Logan is quite the sleeper (I have to pry him out of bed to walk in the morning) BUT he does need exercise. We do a couple of long walks each day & that works well. He does well on a pinch collar and we are leaning whoa and to sit and wait before we cross intersections. He definitely need more whoa training! I let him off leash in a large enclosed area several times and his recall was pretty good.
He is a counter surfer and is still puppy chewing but both of those things are getting better. If he gets his exercise, he is calm and easy. He is so sweet and loving you can help but want to love on him!
********************************************
Logan came to us from a Tennessee shelter. He had been turned in because his family did not take the time to do obedience training & could not control him.
Logan is a very sweet, 18-month old male. He is definitely a weim puppy. He is exuberant when I get home and shows it by jumping all over me and gnawing on my arms…but he is quick to calm and loves being loved. Because he is young, he is still chewing on socks, shoes and other available chewables but we are working on what is an appropriate toy (kongs, etc) and what are not (my shoes and slippers). We are also working on his counter surfing but this will definitely be a hard habit to break. Logan would definitely benefit from a round or two of obedience training.
Logan is very happy outside and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. He has a very impressive bark but is wagging his tail all the while. Bed time is a bit of an issue—Logan will not tolerate a crate at this time. He is happy on the couch or confined in a separate room, but his preference would be to sleep on your bed. His foster sister, Allie, does not tolerate this so Logan finds other places to be comfortable. Logan spent last weekend at home with a pet sitter, but Allie was not home, and she reported that Logan was a different dog—calmer, less anxious about getting attention and even slept beside the bed on a dog bed. I think he may be so starved for attention that he might make a wonderful only dog. He would also be fine with other dogs if he could get his fair share of attention.
He has only been with me and Allie for 2 weeks so further updates will be forthcoming.
UTD on shots, on HW prevention & neutered.

| Name: |
Finn |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
5 months approx |
| Sex: |
Male |
| Description: |
UPDATE from Forever Home Feb. 07: Just wanted to send you a few pictures of Finn from last night. After Terra left, we just hung out and played ball with him down in the basement. We also took several walks around the yard with him as he sniffed around. We went thru the drive thru at Wendys and Finn rode so perfectly in the back. Once we got home we ate and he laid on the couch and kept one eye on us and one eye closed-HAA! Today he ate his PB and J vitamin sandwiches and was ready to head for Petsmart and another specialty store. He loved playing with all the different toys and looking at the birds. We got him an ID tag, bones, and lots of toys. We came back to the neighborhood and took a walk to show him off to the neighbors. Everyone thought he was beautiful--which he is of course, and so friendly. We came home for just a bit and then off for a walk again around the neighborhood as Blair and her friend rode bikes. He sunned on the deck a while and birdwatched. He is now lying in a chair sleeping with one of his toys. We are hoping he eats tonight now that he is settling in. We are so enjoying him and he has been so good. Thanks for sharing this wonderful fellow with our family. The kids are all so attached and proud of him!*****Jan 2007: Finn has been seeing a wonderful holistic vet for the past 6 weeks & is doing great. He is finally at a healthy weight around 59 lbs & is scheduled to be neutered the 1st week of Feb. Finn gets along great with other dogs & is cat friendly. He is very affectionate with people & loves to cuddle. Crated trained & can be left alone uncrated for short periods. Finn is very high energy & seems to be interested in birds, so he might be a good candidate for field trials/hunt tests. Read more about these types of activities on the Weim Club of America website http://www.weimclubamerica.org/worldweims/hunttest/index.html ********
Dec 2006: Finn is moving to a temporary foster home in the Nashville area so he can see a holistic vet. The vets who have been treating him feel that he may have an immune system deficiency. He feels & looks much better, now weighing in a 44 lbs. but his chest x-rays still indicate that he has pneumonia. We feel a holistic approach may be the best route for this little guy. He has his first appointment on Monday Dec 4th. We will post updates & new pictures as we have them. ***************
November 2006: Finn has pneumonia & has lost down to 37 lbs. We took him to a specialist from Auburn to make sure we were not missing something. He did a lung aspirate & the cultures came back negative. We are continuing on 2 antibiotics & echinnacea to boost his immune system. Also have a wonderful volunteer who is cooking chicken & rice and feeding him several times per day. ********************Oct 20: Finn appears to have a case of kennel cough & is losing weight. He is currently in isolation at the vet & is receiving the appropriate meds. One of our volunteers is making a batch of "Satin balls" to try & help add some weight. He should be feeling better in 7-10 days. Finn will need a loving foster home once he has gotten over his cough. ***********October 15, 2006 - Finn is now in the care of WRS after being found as a stray. He has only been with us here at home for a couple of hours and he has won us over! He is a charming little guy with light blue eyes, long ears, expressive face (he gets these great wrinkles on his forehead) and a great temperment. He has done fine here with our 2 weims- a bit unsure of them at first- but now he is running right along after them and doing everything they do. He has been great with my 2 small children- he has not knocked them over or jumped on them- most interested in trying to steal their snacks! My 2 year old daughter has been walking him around inside the house on a leash calling him *mine*. He is a bit on the thin side and needs to put on some weight- but other than that he is a handsome boy. We went around the block and he walks great on a leash- busy checking out all the new sights, sounds and smells. We are going to take him to the vet in the morning for a check-up and to get up to date on all of his shots- he stills needs to be neutered as well. Finn needs a foster home- his stay here with us is only temporary- if you are interested please fill out the online application and write foster next to your name.
His adoption fee will be $300. |

| Name: |
Grady |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
6-9 months |
| Sex: |
Male |
| Description: |
Update from Forever Home 12/06: I just wanted to send an update on Grady and let WRS know what a great dog he is. I did not get too much information about Grady*s background except that he was turned into a shelter because his family thought he was too hyper. Well for a one year old, yes Grady is hyper but in that funny Weimaraner way! He is clumsy and runs into things, slides on the hardwoods and sometimes chases the cats. He loves to play in the backyard as long as someone is on the deck watching him. He is like my shadow and I cannot go anywhere in the house without him! Grady is a fast learner and very eager to please. His one hang up is that he steals pillows off the bed and runs through the house with them to get my attention. I have used a squirt bottle for disciplining this behavior and now if I simply pick it up without even speaking he returns the pillow to the bed. I am sure this is some sort of game to him and he actually has me trained and not the other way around. He has fit into my household so well, gets along great with my two cats and all the other dogs in my extended family. My parents have a female Weimaraner who believes she is Grady*s mom; she is always trying to “take care” of him and brings him all her toys whenever we go to visit! It is so fun having two Weims in the family. I am so grateful to WRS for everything! Thanks for connecting me to such a wonderful dog! 07-Sep-2006 Grady came to us from a Louisiana shelter and will be staying with a volunteer for a couple of days in order to further assess his personality etc. Grady is a sweet and wonderful little puppy so far. He was so exuberant yesterday when the volunteer picked him up from the shelter...just like a baby weimie. Haaaa the joy of seeing and hearing the pitter patter of a puppy again. You gotta love it. Last night he worked on using the doggie door and he did pretty well...although he does not quite understand why he is using it. He has had some potty accidents in the house, as to be expected. He seems to be crating well, which will help us to potty train him quickly.
Grady is neutered, UTD on shots and HW negative. This sweet angel is in need of a foster home so if you would like to foster or even adopt please fill out an adoption form and type FOSTER next to your name and an adoption coordinator will contact you. |

| Name: |
Whitney |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
2 years |
| Sex: |
Female |
| Description: |
Update from Forever Home 10/06: Trick or treat from Whitney! Whitney has enjoyed quite a few treats this year. She was rescued by Weim Rescue and treated to lots of love and care by Mrs. Jennifer and her family. Mrs. Jennifer nursed her through heartworm treatment and spaying surgery. She also worked very patiently with us to place Whitney in her forever home. Whitney has only been with our family for 1 month but she fits in wonderfully! We are enjoying her and the excitement and love that she adds to our family. Her four legged sisters are both 14 years old and Whitney has added some pep to their days. Whitney*s two legged siblings love playing catch and chase with her. The three of them also love "treating" Whitney. She dances in circles and wags her tail sooo fast for any kind of treat! Whitney loves going to obedience classes. Treats, hugs and extra attention are a few of her favorite things (all of which you get at class!). She also loves to give kisses, snuggle in your lap and rest on top of you! We cannot imagine why anyone would ever abandon her. We feel very fortunate to receive our best Halloween treat ever, Whitney! Thanks Weim Rescue!! Update 8/2006- Whitney is now in a foster home with 2 other weims (male and a female) and 2 small children and doing very well. She will finish up her heartworm treatment mid- September and still needs to be spayed then she will be ready for a forever home in early October! Whitney is a very shy girl- she cowers a bit when you reach down to put on her collar or clip on her leash- but every day she gets a little better. Her favorite actvity seems to be licking- people that is- she has no problem starting on your arm and licking all the way down to your toes! Her tail moves a mile a minute when you talk to her or look in her direction- so fast it could almost whip cream!! She crates well- whines a bit a first but then settles right down. She has a bark that makes you look twice- it is almost a howl! We have only had 1 accident in the house and when we go outside she is very quick to take care of business (currently, she has to be taken outside on a leash due to her heartworm treatment restrictions). She is a smaller female with a beautiful coat and a cute cowlick that runs down the center of her nose. A super sweet girl that loves any attention you send her way and snuggling on the couch. She was *cat tested* at the vet*s and seemed to do just fine around them- almost scared of them- we will double check again soon when she is feeling 100% to be sure!(New pictures coming soon- so plese check back!)Update 7/2006- Whitney is also almost complete with her heartworm treatment! Went by to give her some time out of her run with a walk in the parking lot and some one on one attention. She walked nicely on her leash and was very busy checking out all the smells. I feel as though she might possibly be housebroken- seeing as though she went right out and took care of her business! She is a smaller weim with a beautful coat and is in excellent condition! Whitney seems to be a bit on the shy side- but quickly warmed up to me and my toddler age daughter in no time! Did fine with other dogs that we met and we will cat test her soon!
Whitney and Palmer were found running near a busy road in south Alabama. They were lucky that a kind soul stopped & got them to safety. We feel that Whitney may be Palmer*s mom, as they seem pretty attached. That may subside when they get into a home setting where they can relax. Currently both are boarded, and both tested HW positive.
Up to date on shots. Whitney will be spayed as soon as she has completed her HW treatment. If you would like to foster Whitney, please fill out the online adoption application and indicate that you want to FOSTER. |

Weimaraner |
| Age: |
approx. 2 years |

| Description: |
UPDATE from Captain Jack 3/07: I thought I would take a moment to thank all the people who helped me and got me to my new home. I had a long day yesterday, but it was not so bad. I slept on most of the ride, but I got to go to a bunch of rest areas. I even got to get the car nice and muddy... that was fun. I have a 15 year-old human brother who will clean up my mess. Cool. I sure do like to bark at motorcycles when I am in the car. I got to my new house about 6:00 PM. We went to the dog park first so that I could meet my new sister, Casey. They call her Casey Jane, so we both have the same initials. She is okay for a girl dog. She is smaller than I am and she likes to chase a Frisbee. She might have been a little mad at me because I shredded one of those in the car when on my ride. Actually, she was pretty nice. She ran around a lot, I sniffed the dog park a lot. We rode to my new house together from the dog park with no problem. Got to my new house and looked around the yard and the house. My sister went everywhere wagging her tail like crazy. I was really pretty good. My new dad likes jazz... he has a couple of big towers of these things called CDs. Hey, to me, they looked like trees... so I lifted my leg on one. Nobody got mad because they know I am new. My new mom and brother laughed like crazy. My new dad said he guessed I did not like jazz. Then, my new sister and I had dinner. We each had our own bowl, but we shared bowls. After dinner, we each got a new Kong; mine is black and hers is red because she is the girl. I slept good in bed with everybody. My dad said a Weim owner is going to invent a bed bigger than a king. Today, I had breakfast and went outside. Then I chewed up some of my sister*s girl toys. I already have a favorite window to look outside. My sister showed it to me and now I push her out of the way. My sister is barking a lot at me, but she is not being mean; her tag is always wagging. She has growled more than one or two times. Even though I am a Captain, she thinks she is the Queen. My new mom and dad said Casey and I are doing better than they thought we would do during our first couple of days. When my human brother gets up, I will go for a walk. Later, I get to go to the dog park because Casey always tells the humans she wants to go there by going to the garage door and barking. I think I am going to be fine here. Thanks to all of you who have helped me on my journey to my new home. I could not have made it without your love and generosity. I will be talking to you. --Captain Jack*****Update from Foster home 01/30/2007: Jack has been in our home for several months now and he has really settled in well. He is a very entergetic, affectionate Weim who, like all Weims, loves to be the center of attention. He has a wonderful personality. He greets everyone on our walks and any visitors we have at home. He is excellent with children (does not even try to steal the food off their plates- so tempting for most weims!!) and does well with small dogs. I would not suggest having him in a home with cats (which is why we have not adopted him ourselves--we visit our parents a lot who both have cats). Jack is one of our favorite fosters... He knows just how to look at you with those big eyes to get what he wants! Jack loves playing with our other two Weimaraners and would do well with other dogs. He entertains himself well with toys-we have to purchase the hard rubber Kongs- because soft toys he just destroys in minutes! But I also think he would be fine as an only dog. He needs a forever home that can shower him with tons of love & attention.
*******************
UPDATE 10-16-06: Jack is doing fantastic in his foster home. He is a very well mannered Weimaraner. He loves to chew on kongs and go for walks (he does excellent on a leash). He has learned a few commands and is working on more. He knows: sit, down, and shake. He is consistently around children ages 3-13 and does not jump on them or play too rough. He doesn’t even try to still their food when they are eating. Jack is very fascinated with birds mostly but does not have an obsessive prey drive. He is very distracted by birds and cats on walks but will continue without much hesitation. Jack is very affectionate and greets you wagging his whole body. Jack would make a fantastic pet. He has a very charming personality that is very easy to love---
Update Sept. 2006: Jack is going great in his foster home! He seems to be fairly laid back & happy. He did accompany two of our volunteers on a home visit over the weekend. Jack seemed to be very interested in the cat & even attempted to climb up the ladder to the treehouse (where the cat was!) We still need to cat test though. Keep watching for updates & pictures! *******Update 8/2006- Capt. Jack will be going to a foster home this weekend and we will have a new update to post on him soon with new pictures when we learn more about him. So please check back in a few weeks to see if he might be right for you! Update 7/06: Captain Jack is a GREAT dog! He walks well on a lead (without a prong collar!), is sweet (although not terribly affectionate), has a strong hunting/prey drive, gets along well with other dogs (except bossy males), is crate trained (likes his crate) and 8 times out of 10 he will go right in and act like he does not care, seems to be fine with children, loves to ride in the car and is house broken. He is quiet and is well behaved, although he does not know
any commands. He loves to run and would do well with a fence and/or an active family. He sure would be a great dog for someone to love. Update 05-Jun-2006: Jack is very friendly with other dogs and enjoyed some playtime this past weekend with other four legged friends.-- Captain Jack is a fairly well mannered young male. He is not incredibly hyper like many his age and he is very sweet. He is strong and would require a prong collar and will jump up on people so probably not a good candidate for small children. He has a VERY strong bird prey drive but we do not know about cats. My guess is cats are not safe around him if his prey drive is strong. He is probably around 2 years and would be good for an active family. He has made no attempt to climb, dig, or jump out of his fence and he has been fine with other dogs coming up to him through the chain link. Captain Jack is heartworm negative and up to date on all his shots. |

Blue Weimaraner |
| Age: |
approx. 2 years |

Male |
| Description: |
Update from Forever Home 7/06: Gilley, now Gustav, is doing GREAT! He and Boo are truly enjoying each other. He is a very "laid back" for a Weim and is great on a leash. My main focus right now is getting him in shape - he is quite the "foodie" / couch potato. Anytime anyone comments on how gorgeous he is, I try to get a plug in for WRS! I am attaching a couple of pics - thanks for checking back with us!!*****Gilley is approximately 2 years old, neutered, heartworm negative with no parasites. He weighs 72 lbs. and is now up to date on shots. We are using drops to clear his earmites up. He is a blue weim and is very loving and warm. He knows all basic commands, crates at night. I have a cat that goes in and out of the house. Gilley is a little rough with her so I make sure I monitor their time together. I believe he has been around cats before because he ignores her about half the time. He is nice to any one that comes to our house and shares his food or treats with the other dogs without growls or anger. He takes things from your hand so very gently. We love him and know he will be a great dog for someone. |

| Description: |
Update from Forever Home 9/06: Jack is just wonderful. We have had him out and about a lot, and he is now completely at home at our place, having full run of the house while we are at work. We are looking forward to taking him to training classes in the near future. He is really well behaved, but we need him to learn to come when he is called especially when what he is doing is more interesting than coming to us. I have attached a couple of photos for you. We would love to bring him to a day out at Shelby Farms so he can play with the other weims.*****Jack came to us from a south Alabama shelter. He had been picked up running loose and his owners did not come forward to claim him. He is very much a puppy...easily excited and very active. He spent a few nights with a volunteer family before being transported to Birmingham. He held his own with the alpha-female. They argued over toys, but no real problems. Jack was very jealous of the other dogs in the home. He went into his crate as long as he has a treat, and barked some when crated. He appears to be house-trained, and did not attempt to mark in the house. He is tall & thin... ideal weight around 85 lbs. He is a jumper, and we will need to work on that. He knows sit, and down, and may even have been introduced to stay, but is a little too wired to be able to stay for very long. I think he will adjust well and probably calm down some when he gets used to his new environment. He has been cat/little dog tested and seems to be ok.
Up to date on shots, neutered, & on HW prevention.

| Name: |
Missy |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
2 years |
| Sex: |
Female |
| Description: |
Update from Forever Home 9/06: Missy now has a new name (Maggie) which she responds to very well and a happy new life. Everything is great she and Landry are best of friends and are virtually inseparable. I have attached a couple of pictures from the park a couple of weeks ago.*****Update June 06: Missy spent the week of Memorial day with some volunteers, their 3 weims & their grandson. Missy was GREAT! She really seemed to enjoy the 12 yr old & slept with him every night. They all cried when they had to take her back! She is now in a foster home with 2 other dogs, 10 and 13 year old girls & a cat and everyone is doing well so far. Missy is a happy little girl who loves attention, giving kisses and of course playing! We will post an update as soon as we have more info....********** Update 5/06: Missy has turned out to be a great Weim and a great Mom. Although she shows some interest in cats, she is very obedient. She responds quickly to a firm "Missy, no" or "Missy, come here" command. She has not been around children, but besides getting a little excited around newcomers, she should do well with older children. She is also the typical VERY BONDED Weim. She looks for my approval on everything, and listens intently for my voice. She is housetrained, or pretty close to it. She stays in an x-pen at night with her pups, and only 2 times has she had an accident. Update 04/06: Missy had seven pups but only 1 has survived. She is filling in as surrogate mom to 5 other mixed breed pups whose Mom was very very sick. She is a very sweet girl & is learning to be a good mom. We will update photos soon.
****Missy was turned in to a Tennessee shelter...pregnant. To complicate things just a bit more, the shelter had an outbreak of parvo the day after she arrived. We were contacted by the shelter & thanks to some dedicated volunteers, were able to find a vet clinic who could hold Missy in isolation for 14 days to make sure she was not infected. They did an ultrasound and estimated the due date to be in 3 weeks. We just received a phone call today 3/24 from the clinic saying that Missy had given birth this morning & mom and pups were doing well. We are not quite sure who their daddy might have been, but as they get a little older we may be able to determine what they are mixed with! They will be cute & sweet regardless! Missy & the pups will be looking for wonderful adoptive homes after the babies are weaned (mid to late May).
The vet clinic has just raved over her sweet & loving personality.

| Name: |
Callie |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
1 1/2 years |
| Sex: |
Female |
| Description: |
UPDATE from Forever Home 2/07: Callie is great! She is such a special little girl, and we just adore her. We are working on crate training her. I never thought my husband would let a dog sleep in the bed, but Callie can be very convincing. She is small and timid (for a weim), and I think that makes us want to spoil her even more.*****Oct 2006 update: Callie has successfully completed her HW treatment. Yea! She is being weaned off the prenisone & will be spayed in late November. She is certainly enjoying her freedom since she had been confined for so long. Callie is in a foster home with 2 weim sisters, a ridgeback brother & cats and gets along well with all. As we said before, Callie is quite the charmer...even the vet staff who has nursed her thru the HW treatments has gotten very attached to this sweet girl. ********** Sept 2006 update: Callie is having some difficulty with her HW treatment. We are waiting for a few weeks before continuing with the 2nd round of injections. This is going to be a slow process and it may be December before she is healthy enough to go to her forever home. PLEASE remember, all of this could have been prevented if her original owners had given her HW prevention. Try to educate every dog owner you know about the prevention of Heartworms!!! *****Update May 2006: Callie has gained some weight & will be starting HW treatment the first of June. She really has a cute personality & charms everyone she meets. If you are looking for a smaller weim (in size not personality!) Callie fits the bill- she is a petite little girl- only 20 inches tall at her shoulders- we have been calling her "Mini Me". She walks nicely on a leash and loves to run and play in the backyard- she has even brought out the "puppy" in my 2 older weims! Callie has had some "spend the night parties" with one of our volunteers families which includes 2 weims & 2 young children. Callie has been great with all of them. She appears to be house trained (only 1 accident), but is a bit of a counter surfer (what weim isn*t?). She sleeps well in a crate during the night and has found a favorite place under my desk to sleep during the day while I work on the computer. She likes to know where you are at all times- the minute you get up she is right behind you! ******This sweet girl came to us from a Louisiana shelter. She is very underweight and unfortunately is Heartworm positive. Callie just needs to relax & gain some weight before she starts heartworm treatment. She is currently boarded, but would do much better in a home environment. |

| Name: |
Murphy |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
1 year |
| Sex: |
Male |
| Description: |
Update from Forever Home 10/06: After fostering Murphy for over five months, we knew he was going to be a permanent fixture in our home! He is so loving and affectionate and our other Weim, Leica, adores him. Murphy loves to swim, run, chase balls and wrestle with his sister. He graduated from his first obedience class and we plan to continue on with his training. He has made such an improvement over the last seven months and is trusting strangers more and more each day. We cannot imagine our lives without him now! Update 5/06: Murphy celebrated his first birthday 4/28. He graduated from obedience class with flying colors and is very motivated by treats! He would benefit from additional classes to build his confidence and trust. We are trying to expose Murphy to as many new people as possible to help his fear of strangers. He initially may bark but he settles down pretty quickly especially if the new person he is meeting has a treat. He has been fine around children as long as they know not to charge at him. He usually wants to just sneak up and get a sniff of the new person when they are not looking! He is not a counter surfer and loves running and chasing tennis balls. He does not seem to mind being crated but he can usually only go about 5 or 6 hours max without having an accident. He is currently finishing up a course of antibiotics for a slight uti infection. He gets along great with other dogs and enjoys rolling around and wrestling with our other dog. He walks well on a leash. He loves to lean against you and be pet. He sleeps through the night on a dog bed. He has not been exposed to a cat yet but I do not imagine he would have issues with that.*******Murphy is a handsome boy who was turned in to rescue by a retired couple who said he chewed a lot and they just could not handle him. He is a young, strong male who weighs about 70 lbs and will be 1 year old in late April.
Murphy is doing well in his foster home & is getting along with foster sister Leica who is an alpha female. He was originally afraid of the hardwood stairs and strange noises...but is adjusting well. He was not comfortable when boarded at a vet clinic, so would not be the best candidate for someone who travels a lot & plans on boarding their dogs. Murphy started an obedience class last week which should help him to build self confidence when faced with new places, people, & dogs. He did very well at class & the trainer even used him as example for several commands. UTD on shots, on HW prevention, neutered, & house trained. We will keep you updated on his progress in obedience class! |

| Description: |
UPDATE 3/06 from Wagner himself: Look, Mommy! Hurry, come quick! There is white stuff falling out of the sky. I have never seen this stuff before. What? You call it snow. Oh, it is cold on my feet and does not smell very special. Let me back inside so I can watch it through the windows. What a fun game this is. When can we play again? I could play this game for hours. By the way, thank you for rescuing me after the hurricane. I like to play outside, but I would rather stay in here where it is warm and just watch outside. Thanks so much for my new life! *****Wagner was left homeless after Hurricane Katrina. He came thru the Tylertown, MS, temp shelter, then on to us. The Carters, who had adopted Chelsea and Jaggs from us, fostered him then adopted after his mandatory waiting period. As you can see, he is happy & loves his sister Chelsea. |

Mimi |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
4 years approx |
| Sex: |
Female |
| Description: |
Update on Mimi (now G.G.) and Gretchen 10/06: I adopted Gretchen three years ago and G.G. just six months ago. These two girls happily enjoy chasing lizards and sunbathing in the backyard. They love their doggie door and run in and out as the birds eat at the feeder in the morning. Gretchen is the alpha and G.G. is just fine with that. G.G. was named after our very first family weim in the early 1960s. My Grandfather ordered her from Germany and named her G.G., short for grey ghost. He gave her to my Mother and I have been a weim-lover ever since. Both girls are in good health, despite Gretchen*s mast cell tumor scare and G.G*s kidney flare-ups. Gretchen and G.G. love each other and I am so happy I adopted another grey baby from WRS. ***Update*** Mimi is temporarily staying with a volunteer in Nashville and she says that she is the sweetest Weim and very calm. She understands sit well and lie down pretty well and is very responsive when you tell her to get off the bed or couch. Mimi does not love going in the crate to sleep but settles down quickly once inside. She appears to be friendly with all dogs and would make a wonderful pet for experienced or non-experienced weim owners. She does well on the leash if you use a training aid. Otherwise, she does like to pull - especially if she sees a squirrel or bird. We cat tested Mimi & she seems to be cat friendly, however she has not been in a home environment with cats.
Mimi is UTD on shots, on HW prevention, spayed, house trained & still needs a foster home! If you are interested in fostering OR adopting, please fill out the online adoption application and one of our volunteers will contact you.
**** Mimi came to us from a Tennesse shelter. She is a good girl, rides well in a car, knows a few basic commands, appears to be housebroken, good with other dogs. She pulls pretty hard on a lead & is a counter surfer, so we will have to work with her once she is in a foster home. She MAY be Ok with cats... introduced her to the clinic cat and she did not really seem that interested. The cat did NOT run so not sure about the chase factor, so will need to test further. She is up to date on shots, on HW prevention and spayed. Mimi does have some crystals in her urine & has been put on a special diet. She is currently experiencing some incontinence, but this should go away when the crystals are gone.
Mimi needs a foster home!!! If you are intersted in fostering her, please fill out the online adoption application & write FOSTER next to your name. |

| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
8 years |
| Sex: |
Female |
| Description: |
*****Update 1/22/06 Macy is a doll. A big doll, but a doll. She gets along fine with my adopted weim Emily. She is very (VERY) fascinated with my two kitties. She may be better in a forever home without cats, just to be safe. She is mostly well behaved & knows a few commands and usually listens (haha). We are working on down as she just cocks her head to the side and looks at you crazy when you say it now. Ha ha! She is definately got weim personality, with her cocked head and curious ears - as I like to say. I just love her. She has had a few bathroom accidents in the house, but we are working on it. I think that she just might not know much better.*****Quick update from foster mom 01/06: Macy is a sweetheart. She stole our hearts right away!!! Just goofy and wants to love on you & be loved on. She is interested in the cats, but the squirt bottle has been a good method of discipline and everyone is doing well together.
****Macy & her daughter Shelby came into rescue because their family could no longer care for them properly. Macy is a happy girl...just look at that smile! Macy would love to share her golden years with a wonderful, loving family. She needs a good round of obedience training to learn not to jump, but is crate trained & house trained. Up to date on shots, spayed, & on HW prevention. We have seen photos of Macy with a child & also with a toy breed dog. Hopefully, that means that she is good with both kids & small dogs, but we will test further when we get her into a foster home. She also appears to be cat friendly.

Weimaraner |
| Age: |
7 years |
| Sex: |
Female |
| Description: |
Update from Forever Home 7/06: Higgins and Shelby had a good afternoon with me. They explored all about the nooks and crannies and flopped out in the grass and sunned some on the wooden deck. They especially like to go behind our storage building (for mower and tools and such) and walk under bushes. We think it scratches their backs in a comfy way. Higgins and Shelby are playing more and more together. If Shelby had no injured back leg she would be quite a fast runner. She protects her leg and favors it some, but still she and Higgins still romp quite a bit. She is also fabulous in catching balls and swimming. We have seen her leaps and bounds so graceful and timely that we are enchanted by her and her delicate ways.*****Shelby is a very sweet, well behaved girl and would be a great companion for a first time weim owner or someone who does not want quite the challenge of a young dog. Do not misunderstand...Shelby is still active & enjoys playing! She gets along well with other dogs & has charmed everyone who has met her. Rides great in the car.... What else could you ask for???
***Quick update: Shelby has an old injury (& surgery) to a back leg. We took her to see an orthopedic specialist & he said that she does not need additional surgery, but could benefit from some supplements & also some massage therapy & even water therapy (swimming or underwater tread mill). We have already started the recommended supplements & massage therapy. A home with a pool would be FABULOUS for her!***
Shelby and her Mom, Macy came into rescue because their family could no longer care for them. Shelby is a sweet girl who loves to play ball. She sits for a treat and when really excited she will jump on you. Shelby needs a family that will make her a part of their family, give her plenty of love & attention, and work on obedience skills. She is crate trained & house trained. Up to date on shots, spayed & on HW prevention. We have seen photos of Shelby with a child & also with a toy breed dog. Hopefully, that means that she is good with both kids & small dogs, but we will test further when we get her into a foster home. She is NOT cat friendly.

| Description: |
Update from Forever Home 4/07: We adopted Bella in December 2005 when she was about 7 months old. She is very petite for a weim, but is full of love and energy. After adopting Bella, I became a volunteer for the rescue and Bella now goes on home visits for potential adoptive families. Bella has been a wonderful addition to our family. Thanks to Weim Rescue!!*****Bella -Oh, she is so sweet! When I picked her up, she was a little shy. But she settled down quickly & rode in the car like a perfect angel. Just sitting up in the back seat checking things out. She was good with Miss Emily & the
cats. If anything, she only showed the cats attention when they showed her attention, but not in a mean way. She is just playful & loves to love on you. She definately wants to be in your lap or right at your side. Bella plays well with toys, fetching & giving them right back. She is a vacuum... barely chews, muchless breaths, and can finish a bowl of food in like thirty seconds. She stays in her crate well. Either sleeping, or queitly playing with toys. She would be happiest in a home with another dog to play with. The first time we let her in the main yard around the house (and off her leash), she darted
right to the pool, took a sniff & then took a dive! She did a lap and then came right back out. Apparently she is a swimmer. Anyway, that is why she is
wet in some of the pics!
Bella is up to date on shots, on HW prevention, spayed & house trained.

| Description: |
Update from Adoptive Mom 8/06: Jabez (previously known as Boyd) is doing awesome. He has really adjusted well to his new home. Ann introduced us to the Cenntenial Dog Park and we have fallen in love with it. Jabez loves to run around with the other pups. He enjoys saying hello to all the people too! It has been to hot to go camping so far but we are thinking about October! Jabez says hello and not to worry because he has been a good boy and enjoys his new home! Thanks...Kim
*****
March 06 update: Boyd has been with us 5 weeks & is doing great. He enjoys exploring outside, but wants to be where you are. Boyd is now fully house trained & sleeps through the night. Plays well with the other 2 dogs in the home and quickly learned what was expected when taught the rules of the household. Just a sweet boy who has calmed down quite a bit since he has been in a home and is getting plenty of attention. *****
Boyd is a high energy boy who came to us from a Birmingham area shelter. He is a good boy, but very active....he just does everything with exuberance! High prey drive & not cat friendly, he would be best in an active family who is committed to obedience training. He jumped right into the back of my car no problem and he really enjoys riding in the car- he started out riding in the way back then jumped over and sat and rode in the third row of seats- then he decided he wanted to be a bit closer- rode in between my 2 kids in the second row of seats. Did not seem to be bothered by the kids. Seemed to know sit- and overall seems like a really friendly dog. He has a small patch of white in the middle of his chest. He did not do too well on a leash- but I am sure that he was really excited/nervous and might do better another time. Boyd is currently being boarded & needs a foster home to start on house training, crate training, & basic obedience skills. If you are interested in fostering Boyd, please fill out the online adoption application. We screen foster homes in the same manner as adopative homes: vet check, phone interview, & home visit. He is up to date on shots, neutered, & on HW prevention. |

18 months |

| Description: |
Mork has a new name, a new family and a new chance at life. UPDATE from new parents 2/06: Wilson (formerly Mork) is doing great. He is extremely goofy and we love him here. My 2 year old daughter calls him her “cowboy” for some reason and he allows her to lay on him and watch TV, cover him in blankets, and they even play tug with his toys quite a bit. When he is not playing with our daughter he can always be found snoozing on the couch if we are in the living room or in the middle of our bed (taking up about 90% of the space). He really hates it when we make him get down at night and sometime in the middle of the night he sneaks back in bed with us with all the grace of an elephant (he knows we will be too sleepy to make him move then)! He loves to go camping and hiking but he is not too fond of cold weather. His favorite time of day is always meal time. He gets muddy every time it rains because he seems to like the rain or lack the good sense to stay on the porch. He could probably do with a round or two of obedience training this spring but for now he is a fairly well behaved man, just goofy and full of energy.****Mork and Mindy were found running near a busy street in central Alabama and were picked up by a kind soul. They were held at a local vet clinic for 2 weeks in hopes of finding their owners, but no luck. We have scanned them for microchips and found nothing. Mork is a sweet boy who seems to be afraid of cats. He is up to date on shots and neutered. We are testing for heartworms today, so should have test results in the next 2 days. If you are interested in fostering Mork, please fill out the online adoption form and simply write FOSTER next to your name. |

Auggie (formerly Harley) |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
1 1/2 yrs |
| Sex: |
Male |
| Description: |
Update from Forever Home 2/07: We have had Auggie (formerly Harley) for over a year now. What a great dog he has turned out to be, although a little eccentric. If he can see the bottom of his food dish even though it is not empty, he will sit and stare at it yelping at a whisper level until I refill it. He will then give me a thank you nudge, fill up his mouth with food, then head to the living room and spill all the food on the floor and eat it one piece at a time. At first my wife was appalled, but now she just smiles at him like I do. His days start off waking up my 7 year old daughter by sticking his cold nose on her cheek, neck or wherever. We also have a Cairn Terrier and they just love each other. When they play Auggie lays down so they can be on the same level. He has been a great addition to our family and we are grateful to have him. We lost our 14 year old Lab a few years back. Auggie really has filled that void in our family. He is loyal, eager to please, and just has an all around great personality that only a Weim can have.*****Harley is a young male weim who came to us from the Memphis Animal Shelter as a stray at the end of September. He just completed his Heartworm treatment and is now negative for heartworms so he is ready for a permanent home! Harley is very affectionate towards his people and gets along very well with other dogs. He loves playing fetch, chewing on bones and destuffing toys. He knows the commands "sit", "down" and "drop-it" and takes treats very gently from your hands. He is a small guy, approximately 53 pounds, and about 23" at the shoulder. He sleeps perfectly during the night on his dog pillow, but would prefer the human bed if he was allowed to. He loves getting attention from people and rubs on your legs like a cat. Harley seems to be good with children and walks pretty well on leash with minimal pulling. Harley will crate if needed and rides great loose in the car. When you get busy around the house and he is bored, he curls up on his pillow and takes a nap. He has not shown any signs of destruction in the house and is usually pretty reliable with his housetraining. He will try to mark inside initially at a new house, but I caught him the first time he tried this, yelled no, and he has not tried since. He will try to hide his bone or treats from the other dogs, or chooses to chew it quietly in his crate. He will share his toys and food with the other dogs without incidence. Harley would be fine placed in a home with other dogs or as an only dog, but NO cats. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Harley, please fill out an application.
Up to date on shots, neutered, on HW prevention & house trained. |

| Name: |
Drake |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
3 -4 years |
| Sex: |
Male |
| Description: |
Update from Forever Home 7/06: We adopted Drake on May 5th of this year. We were all very nervous at first on how things would go as this is our first rescue experience. He is doing really well and has adjusted beautifully. He is so much a part of our family already. Our two daughters love him, and he is so good natured towards them. Drake was a rescue from Mississippi after Katrina. This summer Drake has been chased by a mama deer in our backyard and stuck his poor little nose in yellow jackets. We were afraid that he might want to purchase a bus ticket back to Mississippi, but thankfully a few Benadryl later, he is fine!!*****Hurricane Katrina survivor: The Mouth earned his name from the kennel staff at our vet because he is a big talker! He has been renamed Drake by his foster Mom. This sweet boy came to us from the Gulfport shelter just 1 week after the hurricane hit. We do not have any history on him, but he appears to be a good natured boy. He has been checked out by our vet and is HW negative and in good health. We will hold on to the dogs who came to use due to the Hurricane for 6-8 weeks in hopes that the original family will surface. Please fill out the online adoption application if you are interested adopting this sweet boy. |

| Name: |
Fossey** |
| Breed: |
Blue Weimaraner |
| Age: |
1 1/2 years |
| Sex: |
Female |
| Description: |
Update from Forever Dad 7/06: Fossey is a real gem, a friend and just a blessing to have as my companion. I could not imagine coming home and not having her there waiting for me. She truly makes the house a home by her presence, her attitude and love she has for everyone in the neighborhood. Adopting another Weim is not out of the question and more than likely a probability later on down the road!***Fossey came to us from a Georgia shelter. She is a pretty blue girl who got her name because her favorite toy is a gorilla & her foster mom works with gorillas in the Atlanta Zoo - so she is named after Dian Fossey! She is fostered in the same home as Higgins (also available for adoption) and they are playing well together. She is actually turning out to be a good running partner too. Fossey is crate trained & loves to have her belly rubbed! She is up to date on shots, on HW prevention & spayed. |

| Name: |
Tegan (formerly Bonnie**) |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
6 months |
| Sex: |
Female |
| Description: |
Update from new parents 5/06: I just wanted to give an update on Tegan (used to be Bonnie). We love her! We cannot thank you all enough for what you do and for bringing us to her! I work at a dog daycare in Alpharetta and so she gets to come with me to work everyday! She gets along great with all the other dogs and she even gets to help out with tempermant tests!!! She is such a sweet girl! Tobler, our other weim loves her also. We take the
two of them out to the lake regularly so they get to play around. Tegan goes all the way up to her head in the water but has not quite made the jump into swimming yet! She also loves to run around and point out geese and birds in the woods!*****Bonnie & Clyde were turned into a central Alabama shelter because they played too rough with the 5 year old child in the home. The volunteers who pulled them from the shelter said they were both very sweet & rode well in the car. They were friendly & relatively calm with the kids who wanted to pet them in the lobby. Bonnie is up to date on shots, on HW prevention & will be spayed in a few days. She appears to be scared of cats, so should be able to learn to co-exist with cats without a problem. She is very attached to her brother, so probabaly would do best in a home with another dog. |

| Name: |
Memphis (formerly Clyde**) |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
6 months |
| Sex: |
Male |
| Description: |
Update from Forever Home 7/06: Just wanted to drop you an overdue line about Memphis, the Weim formerly known as Clyde. He is growing like a weed and is up to roughly 80 lbs of pure muscle and great spirit. His personality is second to none and as they tend to be, he is one of the smartest dogs I have ever known. Memphis is a wonderful addition to our family and I am not sure that he or Stella, our Golden, could handle being apart from each other. They have become fast buddies and are virtually inseparable. We met up with his sister, formerly Bonnie, now Tegan, about two weeks ago and while there were no hugs and kisses, they played together in the group and had fun. There are some pictures attached and once again we thank everyone that had a part in it, for saving Memphis!
*****Bonnie & Clyde were turned into a central Alabama shelter because they played too rough with the 5 year old child in the home. The volunteers who pulled them from the shelter said they were both very sweet & rode well in the car. Clyde did get car-sick just as they pulled into the vet clinic to drop them off. They were friendly & relatively calm with the kids who wanted to pet them in the lobby. You can see that his coat looks spotty. This will change within a month of living inside & feeding a nutritious food! A good brushing will help too. Clyde is dependent on his sister & would do best with another dog in the home. He is up to date on shots, on HW prevention, & neutered. He was slightly intereted in the cats at the clinic, but after he was swatted in the nose, he did not want to investigate further! So we feel he would be okay in a home with cats. If you are interested in fostering or adopting this "baby boy", please fill out the online adoption/foster application. |

| Name: |
Beaner** |
| Breed: |
Blue Weimaraner |
| Age: |
2 years |
| Sex: |
Male |
| Description: |
Update from Forever Mom (4/06): I started calling Beaner by his new name, Bacardi, within days after he came to live with me. Bacardi DeCarrera is his new name and he recognizes and answers to it. I have had Bacardi for just over three months now and he is the most wonderful Weimaraner. He continues to be very intelligent, calm, gentle, well behaved, and loving. He is well socialized and I can take him anywhere. He accepts people very easily, those visiting within our home, or those we encounter out in public. He loves to go in the car and will wait there patiently for me to do my errands; weather permitting he often accompanies me to work. Given a chance he would chase cats, squirrels, and barks like crazy at bike riders, he appears to be friendly with other dogs, even the small breeds. When I return home, I usually find him asleep on the sofa, his big pillow, or more likely on my bed. I have enclosed some photos from poolside. He goes to the edge and looks--he is especially curious about the floating chair. I was enjoying the sun on a lawn chair couple of days ago and had to get up to answer the phone and, as you see in the photo, I returned to find Bacardi had taken my chair, Needless to say, now we have to lawn chairs by the pool. Both Bacardi and I will be forever grateful to Weimaraner Rescue because, thanks to you all, I have one of the best Weimaraner companions anyone could ever hope to find and Bacardi has a permanent home where he is loved and well cared for. Bless you for all the work Weimaraner Rescue does for all Weims in need. I pray that there will come a day when that need will not be so great, that all pet owners and prospective pet owners will become better educated about the breeds they are interested in before they acquire them. Until that time comes, hang in there and continue the wonderful work Weimaraner Rescue does to provide for all our beloved Weimaraners. Thank you.****
*******Beaner unfortunately tested a strong Heartworm positive. He will be starting his heartworm treatment in a couple of weeks but will have 8 weeks of confinement ahead. He should be ready for his forever home around the 1st of October.****A note to everyone: PLEASE make sure your dogs are on HW prevention. Heartworms are a deadly parasite tranmitted by mosquitoes & easily prevented with a monthly tab. Please contact us if you need more info about heartworms & HW prevention.****Hurricane Dennis - was found in South Alabama just days before Hurricane Dennis hit. He was evacuated to Huntsville to wait out the storm & did just great with the other weims in the household! He crated well his first night, walks well on a leash, knows Sit, Down, & Come - just a smart boy! The temporary fosters tried calling him Dennis, but he did not respond to that at all, but seemed to respond to the "B" sound - so they are calling him BooBoo. This big, blue sweetheart will be a great companion for some lucky family! He is neutered & up to date on vaccinations. |

| Name: |
Billie Sue (formerly Duchess**) |
| Breed: |
Blue Weimaraner |
| Age: |
1 year approx |
| Sex: |
Female |
| Description: |
Update from Forever Home 7/06: In July 2005, I was asked if I would foster a young female Weim. I had already adopted Ina and thought I would give it a try. When Duchess came, skin and bones, that expression did me in! I got an email shortly after saying someone in north Georgia was looking for a Blue Weim and would I be available for them to view her........well, I immediately let it be known Duchess was not up for being adopted by anyone other than myself! So she officially became ours! We renamed Duchess and now she is Billie Sue. She respected the cats and gave our Jack Russell, Taz, plenty of room. Ina became her pal and playmate. Billie Sue picked up a lot of commands from Ina. At dinner I have Ina sit and wait until I use hand signal to tell her to go and eat. Billie Sue saw this and she began sitting and waiting, too. On leash outings, it takes a few moments before she remembers “oh, yeah, I am supposed to be alking beside Mama.” She is incredible. She is a hunter, and has brought me turtles still alive and chipmunks with no teeth marks on them but dead probably from shock. We had a baby bird that flew off the nest (which was on the second floor deck in one of my house plants) and did a nose dive onto the concrete. Billie Sue gently laid it down next to me while I was working in the garden. Ina rides in the back of the car, Taz stays on the passenger front seat, and Billie Sue rides in the crate, which she likes. So if you by chance see a Weim with her head out the window on our street and a Jack Russell sitting in the front seat, Billie Sue is talking, too!....It is my Crew! At this time I would like to commend WRS for having Debbie Kirkwood on their team, I realize she is on a break right now, but she was a blessing when we began our adoption procedures. She offered so much information and guidance about taking on strange, 2 year old Weims and I think of her often. Thanks for letting me brag about my GIRLS!*****Duchess is a shy, young blue female who is coming to us from a central Alabama shelter. She had been adopted & returned because the family could not contain her in the yard. Duchess can also open gate latches, so she will need a home with preferably a 6 ft fence & secure locks OR a family committed to not leaving her in a fenced area when unattended. She (like all weims) would benefit from a round of basic obedience. This is always a great way to bond with your new companion! Duchess gets along well with other dogs & is good with cats. She is up to date on shots, spayed, & on HW prevention. We will post more info as Duchess gets into her foster home & we get to know her a little better. |

| Name: |
Mick |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
5 years |
| Sex: |
Male |
| Description: |
Mick was adopted by his foster mom after he was diagnosed with Malignant Mast Cell tumors. The tumors were removed & he is now under the care of a holistic vet in the Nashville area. Our plan is to build up his immune system as much as possible, remove any toxins from the body, then treat with bloodroot which is used to kill cancerous cells. He is currently transitioning to a raw diet & is on several supplements. We are going to beat this! Please keep Mick in your thoughts & prayers.***************Update Aug 2006: Mick continues to do well in his foster home with 4 other weims. He has decided that his job is to pick all the tomatoes from my tiny garden. He also taught the other dogs his trick. Needless to say, there never is a ripe tomato anymore,so Mick is picking and eating the green tomatoes! Oh, forgot to say he has moved on to the cucumbers as well... So much for my attempt at a garden! He has learned many hand signal commands including sit, down, stay, come, drop, go potty, off, good boy & no...he also knows his name. (It is the sign for "boy" in human sign language, but do not tell Mick!) He would learn many more if someone had plenty of time to work with him. The perfect home for Mick would have at least 1 other dog, a 6 foot or higher privacy fence & people with patience, a sense of humor, & the desire to work with Mick. He would do better in an environment without kids, as he can be easily startled. We should all dream of sleeping as soundly as Mick! ****** UPDATE 11/05: Mick is just a great dog! We all went to the Boxer Bash (Boxer rescue outing) yesterday & I was very proud...several people commented on how beautiful & well behaved the weims were! There were probably 50 people & 30 dogs at the event & Mick was relaxed & friendly to everyone. He has become quite a snuggle bunny...loves sleeping on the pillows next to my head when Hattie will allow it. I am amazed at how he can make himself fit into the smallest spots if it means getting to be next to Mom. :o) He likes to play chase with Hattie & they also rough-house & wrestle. Mick is sort of a spaz...he gets excited & tries to turn the corner to quickly and goes sliding on the hardwood floors. He sometimes gets in such a hurry that he trips over his own feet. Just as cute & happy as can be! He does counter surf (like most weims) and I have to do a really good job of keeping the countertops clear. If you leave a 2 liter soda bottle out, he will steal it and take it to his crate... he does not chew it up or puncture it, just moves it. He is a funny boy who needs a family with a good sense of humor to appreciate him! People need to get past the fact that he cannot hear...he certainly has!*********
UPDATE from Foster Mom 07/08: Mick had a big day today...Mick foster siblings Hattie & Winston went swimming in the creek with their lab friend -Joy. I think this was Mick*s first experience with swimming. He basically stood on the bottom with his hind legs & splashed a lot with his front feet! His style improved greatly before the day was over. Mick loved retrieving toys from the water and running & playing with his new friend. Click on link below to view a short video of Mick exploring in the creek! (Please be patient, it takes a few seconds for the video to load). He does not meet a stranger (human or dog). Mick is a very friendly & happy boy! Mick is in the red collar, looking directly at the camera in the photo at the creek. Mick jumps completely over my sofa, so a 4ft fence is not going to work. I do think this exceptional jumping ability would make him a great candidate for agility! ******UPDATE from Foster home 06/05: Mick is a very sweet boy! He is working hard on learning inside manners and mastered the doggie door immediately. He is crating very well & sleeps all night without a sound. He has learned the signs for SIT, DOWN & COME....not bad for only 4 weeks. He is eager to work for treats, so hopefully that means he will learn quickly. He does bark when he is excited & waiting on his meals or if one of the other dogs walks by his crate & taunts him with a toy....those are really the only times that he barks. Mick gets along well with both his very alpha foster sister & his foster brother (both weims). He will run & play hard with the 5 year old female & then will put himself in the crate for rest time. He also likes to retrieve but had not quite mastered the command "drop". Loves to chew on a Kong! He does jump some & is mouthy - trying to grab your hand for attention - but we are discouraging these behaviors & are seeing less & less of them. All in all Mick is a very sweet boy that is happy to be middle to low man in the pack. Mick would be best placed in a home with no children, as he sleeps very soundly & could be startled from his sleep. He is way too interested in the cats at the vet clinic - so I would say he is NOT cat friendly. He will be a wonderful, happy companion for some lucky family!
****** Mick Dundee formally known as Nick is a very special 4 year old gray weimaraner. He is deaf. He was turned into a Louisiana shelter when the family could not keep him under control (due to lack of communication skills). When he was turned into the shelter the doctors discovered that he is deaf. Mick will need a special family who is willing to learn communication skills in order to work with him in a meaningful way. Mick is a jumper and high energy. He will need a good round of proper obediance training b/c of his special needs. He gets along well with other dogs... male & female. I do not recommend him in a house with young children. Mick is neutered, up to date on shots, house trained & on HW prevention. I will update when more is known about this very special boy.

| Name: |
Leroy** |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
approx 2-3 years |
| Sex: |
Male |
| Description: |
UPDATE 2/06 from new parents: Here are some photos of our sweet boy Leroy. We adopted him last October and he has made himself right at home. We have never had a weim before and we really did not know what to expect but four months later we cannot imagine life without him. UPDATE 8/05: Some things we have learned about Leroy: He will not get on the sofa while you are in the room
unless you invite him to do so. He will get on the sofa when you are away from the house, though. He does not like to enter the kitchen. He is afraid of the AC. If you ask him "Leroy, do you have to GO?" he will wag his tail pacing back and forth and run to the door if he needs to go out. He loves to sleep with his humans. He also loves drinking water from the sink as you are getting dressed in the morning. He really likes peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (and everything else he can fit into his mouth). He is starting to gain weight. He will play jump and catch for hours. He loves his squeaky toy and will meet you at the front door with it when you come home.*****Leroy came to us from a shelter in central Alabama. He is a sweet boy & should be around 90 lbs when he is up to a healthy weight. Leroy had been neutered & is up to date on shots & on HW prevention. His HW test was actually inconclusive, so he will need to be re-tested in 3 months.
Leroy is NOT good with cats. We have not observed him around kids yet, as he is still being boarded. If you would be interested in fostering, Leroy needs a foster home & some "good home cooking" to fatten him up!
Please fill out the online adoption application to foster or adopt. |

| Name: |
Sigmond** |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
2 years approx |
| Sex: |
Male |
| Description: |
Sigmond is loving his new home. He got to go to the lake last weekend & was able to brush up on his swimming technique. He even met a baby deer - pictures are coming soon! Everyone loves him, as he is so well behaved & friendly.
*********This is Sigmond who was saved from being euthanized in a Louisiana shelter. What a handsome boy! The family turned him in because they "did not realize how big he would grow to be". This 82 lb boy is house trained & responds well to his name and basic commands like sit, stay and down. He likes to retrieve & accidentally jumped into the pool this week. Let*s just say that he did not have great form in the water, but was not traumatized by the experience! This might have been his first swim - he might enjoy the water, but would probably do better to start in a lake where he could touch bottom. He barks when crated & even broke out of one crate - so this is probably new to him. He did not do well in the kennel at the vet either, so probably would not be good for someone who travels a lot & plans on boarding. He loves people & is what we call a "leaner" (leans against your legs to be loved on). Sigmond is up to date on shots, neutered, & on HW prevention. If you would like to adopt any of these wonderful weims, please fill out the online adoption application. |

| Name: |
Gil |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
4 years approx |
| Sex: |
Male |
| Description: |
CHECK OUT GIL IN THE VIDEO BELOW!! Update from Gil 7/06: In April 2005 I was rescued from a shelter in Tuscaloosa. The man who had me before never named me--he just called me dog or no name. The kennel was much nicer! People talked to me and gave me good food to eat. And they gave me a name - Gil. One day, two ladies came with two puppies to see me. I really did not know what to expect, but the next thing I knew I was in a car with them leaving the kennel. When we got to their house, a man walked on the deck. I was so afraid! That other man had always been so mean to me. I curled into a ball and tried to cover my head, but this man was different. He talked to me and petted me. I got to sleep inside with the two puppies. They called me Gil the foster dog. I did not really know what that meant. I played with the puppies (One is really calm and laid back; the other one is wild, but I really love her!) We get to come inside and watch television or play with toys or take naps on the couch. One day the man said that he did not think I could be happier anywhere else--that they might as well just adopt me. Now I am called Gil the no longer foster dog. I am really happy! I think my people are happy too!*****Update from Foster Family 9/05: Gil is doing so well! His new medication has made a world of difference in his behavior. He is so much calmer. When he gets really excitied, he still tries to jump up, but we are working hard on that. He has gained weight and he looks great. He loves playing with his foster brother and sister, but he is just as happy taking a nap beside my chair when I am at the computer. He is just the sweetest boy! *******Update from foster family 06/05: Gil has just graduated from Obedience Level I! We are so very proud of him. He really is a great dog! He does suffer from severe separation anxiety, but we are trying him on a different medication, and hopefully that will help. As long as he is with someone or another one of the dogs, he is fine. He just does not want to be left alone, and he can be destructive when left by himself. He is so different from the skinny, scared dog that we brought home! He plays with our two Weim puppies (also from Weim Rescue). He loves to play with toys and likes to carry stuffed toys around in his mouth. I think he is enjoying the puppyhood that he probably never got before. He is housetrained and loves to play outside. He would be best in a home with other animals or with someone who can be with him most of the time. now weighs 72 (he has gained 20 lbs!), and he looks great!*****Update 4/10/05: They say a picture is worth a thousand words....What more can we say? Gil is making himself at home with his new foster family and doing just great with the 2 young weims in the house! Gil has some separation anxiety & needs to know someone--human or animal-- is at home with him. He loves his stuffed toys and likes to carry one around with him. Gil really wants to please...Sometimes it just does not happen, but he tries. Gil*s foster family is actually taking him to obedience training & he is doing very well! He is up to date on shots, on HW prevention & neutered and would make a great addition to your home!*****Update 4/6/05: Good news from the vet. Gil is doing great & has recovered from his bout with pneumonia. He is eating well & starting to come out of his shell. We now know that he is NOT good with cats. We will post additional updates as we get to know Gil.*****Gil came to us from a central Alabama shelter where he had been turned in with 2 labs. The owner simply did not want the dogs anymore. Gil was so scared that he would not eat nor make eye contact. He just cowered in the corner of his run. A local volunteer went by to meet him, armed with a "happy meal". That perked him up! The volunteer could not stand to see him in the shelter & took him directly to her vet. He is now up to date on shots, neutered, & on HW prevention. Our adoption coordinator visited with Gil on Saturday & he is very sick with pneumonia. He is currently on an IV with antibiotics & other meds. We will keep you posted on his health. Gil REALLY needs a patient foster home as he is still very scared in a kennel environment. If you would like to adopt, please fill out the online adoption application.

| Name: |
Casey** |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
1 year |
| Sex: |
Female |
| Description: |
UPDATE from adoptive family 05/05:Buddy and Casey seem to be quite enamored with each other. Buddy is showing a little bit of jealousy with sharing his toys but nothing aggressive, just spoiled only child behavior. The two of them played so long and hard all weekend that Buddy was acting like he had sore/stiff muscles this morning! Indoor play is all wrestling to the point that we have to break them up and call time out or they would never stop. In fact, last night we finally called time out and both of them practically fell asleep instantly because they were exhausted but could not stop themselves from playing. Outside play between the two of them is pretty funny to watch. Buddy knows that he cannot keep up with Casey*s speed so he stands in one spot, lets her run around in circles for awhile and then he just reaches out at just the right moment and catches one of her legs and takes her down into a wrestle. Casey has figured this out too so she will run in circles and then just plow, full speed, right into Buddy in an attempt to push him down but he is like a brick wall to her and just stands there and lets her run into him.
Here are some pictures for you. If you did not guess already, that big brown "pillow" is Buddy.
Casey is an 11 month old female weim who was abandoned by her owners when they were evicted from their home. A nice man retrieved Casey from the backyard and contacted us to take her in. Casey is a sweet girl and greets everyone with a wagging tail. Yes, you heard me right, a TAIL! Casey has a natural tail similar to weims being bred in Australia or Europe where laws have banded docking tails. She was checked out by the vet and given her vaccinations and she tested NEGATIVE for heartworms and other parasites! Casey walks well using a regular collar and is working on her obedience commands and perfecting her housebreaking and has not had any accidents so far inside the house! |

| Name: |
Dugan** |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
Approx 2 years |
| Sex: |
Male |
| Description: |
Potter (aka Dugan) has settled in nicely! He has gained about 7-10 lbs and already feels at home enough to counter surf. He loves giving kisses, dancing and sitting in my lap. He has taken kindly to boat rides and greets all the boats at the marina with a happy hello, not to mention a kiss or two for the dock workers! I have been working all summer to get him to swim and last weekend we had a break through! I jumped in, Weim sister Daisy jumped in and Potter just followed! Although scared and confused, he relaxed once I got him on the life jacket and then swam comfortably back to shore. And although he did not get in again, I do have high hopes for him for this weekend!
His puppy lessons are going very well. He stays (once I get him to sit) and is excellent on leash. He also comes when called 95% of the time on the first try. I have really been proud of his progress! He and Daisy are getting along well. They play until pooped and only fuss with each other at dinner time. He has become a true member of the family.
I am so lucky to share my life with him! ********
Dugan was turned into a local shelter by his owner, who was moving to an apartment and could not take him along. Dugan is heartworm negative, neutered and up to date on shots. He is very hyper like a typical young weim and would greatly benefit from an obedience class or two. He is a lovely color of silver gray. Dugan & Boris are being boarded at the same facility. When allowed to interact, Dugan started playing rough, being a bit growly and bossy, so we would recommend a laid back male or female as a companion for Dugan. |

| Name: |
Cal** |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
5 years |
| Sex: |
Male |
| Description: |
Update from Forever parents 7/06: Here are some pictures of "Cal boy". We adopted Cal in Oct 2005 and he has been our big baby boy ever since. He and his older brother Duke are inseperable. Cal*s all-time favorite toy is still a tennis ball. He just likes to chew it in his mouth and I have to pry it out in order to play fetch. He will go and get the ball and bring it back but he just does not want to let it go out of his mouth. He has the most personality of any dog I have met. One of his cutest faces is when he shows his pouty lower lip. He cannot seem to get enough of my hugs & kisses and he spoils me right back with his kisses. Cal obtained his Canine Good Citizen certification in January. Our next family pet will definitely be another adopted Weim!****My husband and I adopted Cal nearly 1 month ago here in Atlanta. He was a 5yr old rescue from Louisiana. He has been a wonderful addition to our family and gets along wonderfully with our 11yr old beagle/lab mix. Cal had his first obedience class this past Monday and is a quick learner. We could not have adopted a better dog!!! Thanks for helping out these wonderful dogs!
****Cal is a sweet 5 year old male who came to us from a Louisiana shelter. He is up to date on shots, neutered, & on HW prevention. Cal is being fostered in the New Orleans area in a home with a female & a male weim. He is doing just great so far. He crates well, walks well on a prong collar, but is a bit nervous around heavy traffic. He is lovable & enjoys giving his foster mom kisses! He seems to understand the basic commands, but does not always respond to those quickly. A basic obedience course would be a great way to refresh his skills & also provide a wonderful environment to bond with his new mom or dad.
New pictures coming soon... |

| Name: |
Hunter** |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
9 months |
| Sex: |
Male |
| Description: |
Update from Forever Mom 7/06: Here are some current pics of Hunter. He is the funniest dog I have ever met. His favorite game is chase, so that is why he has the hanger. Only mom and dad*s things are fun because they will chase him to get them back. He has really turned out to be a great dog and the biggest cuddle bug for me and Van (our other weim). We are so happy to have him in our family! Thank you again!*****Hunter is a sweet young boy that is 9 months old this month. His family is giving him up due to his high activity level which requires more time than they are able to give. He would do best with older children, as he does not realize his own size. Obedience training is a MUST for anyone who adopts this extremely active boy! The best home for Hunter would be one with weim-experience. Hunter is housebroken, good with other dogs, likes to chase cats. He is neutered and up to date on shots and is on Heartworm preventative. |

Halo was adopted to one of our volunteer families in Memphis. She is getting used to the spoiled rotten life and keeping up with the big dogs. Her brother, Nimbus is also getting used to sharing the attention of him mommy and her foster brother Moose is becoming accustomed to sharing life with one of his own children! Yep - that is correct, Moose is Halo*s papa! Well it looks as though the "Herd of Weims" are doing well and we look forward to more pics of Miss Halo as she grows. |

Update from Forever Home 7/06: In January of 2005, I lost my 13 year old Weim. I knew that I wanted to get another female, but I did not plan on getting a puppy. However, there were few females available at Weim Rescue, and Kim kept telling me, "There are two female puppies left!" The next thing I knew I was bringing home a four month old Weim whom I named Battina Tigerlily. My daughter had adopted one of the male puppies on Dec. 31, so we were already training one puppy. How much more trouble could another be?! Little did I know! I cannot even begin to relate all of her misadventures, but, of course, I love her even with all of her wildness! Her latest adventure was getting a bottle of champagne off the wine rack, taking it to the couch without breaking it, and trying to open it. She had removed the foil and was working on the cork when we discovered her! Life is not dull with Tigerlily around! But I cannot imagine my life without her!*****Tigerlily (formerly Adeline) has settled in really well. She seems really at home. She is just great! She learns really quickly, and is so loving. Tigerlily went to the vet for shots this week, and she weighs 20.8 lbs, so still fairly small. She especially likes to have her tummy rubbed but does not really like to have her picture taken! Had to sneak & take her picture while she was sleeping... Thanks again for everything!

Ellie** |
| Breed: |
Weimaraner |
| Age: |
15 weeks |
| Sex: |
Female |
| Description: |
Ellie is one of the puppies from Scarlett and her new dad and mom have only good things to report! We just wanted to send an update and let you know how Ellie is doing. We have had Ellie a little over a week now and she is so sweet. She already knows how to sit, lie down and come - she is learning so fast. Ellie is quite the little lap dog. She is very content sitting on our laps and napping. She has also figured out how to wag her tail, which is very very cute. She is making friends quickly with the other dogs in the neighborhood and with everyone she meets. We would like to say thank you to everyone at the weim rescue for letting us adopt such a special little girl. We will send more pictures of Ellie in the next few weeks. Tim and Kelly
