Meet Gordon...
 |
Gordon had apparently lived most of his life on the end of a chain. Notice the circle around his neck... Those are scars from the chain that was embedded in his neck. The smaller photo below right is a close up view of the wounds on the back of his neck. You can actually see where each link in the chain cut into his skin. I know that is hard for most of us to imagine, but many dogs suffer this type of abuse every day.
To no surprise, Gordon's owners did not give him heartworm prevention either. So, once he has put on some weight & his wounds have healed, he will have to endure heartworm treatment. On top of all of that, the vet found multiple pellets in his body when they did chest x-rays. Can you believe that this precious boy has been through all of this in just 2-3 short years???
|
Gordon ended up having a lucky streak. He broke free from the chain & was picked up by animal control. The shelter planned to euthanize Gordon once his "holding period" was up. But...A local animal advocate just happened to get involved & begged the shelter to give her a little time to find a rescue group to help him. Thank goodness for that angel who saw Gordon & got him to safety!
Please keep Gordon in your thoughts & prayers as he will be starting HW treatment at the end of October.

All contributions are greatly appreciated! WRS is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization & all donations are tax deductible. Thank you for your support!

Foster Homes - WE NEED FOSTER HOMES!!!
Foster homes are a critical part of our success as a rescue group. As a foster home you would provide a loving, stable environment for a rescued dog until he/she is adopted. We are often forced to board some of these dogs due to the lack of foster homes. This is a tremendous financial burden on the rescue, not to mention the stress it causes for the dogs. Please consider taking one of these guys into your home today! Click here if you would like to foster a Weim.
